The Scout Section
The Scouts is for young people aged 10½ to 14. We meet at our Scout Hall on Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Scouts meet together as a Troop but then work in smaller groups called ‘Patrols’. A team of adult volunteers called leaders will run the activities for the scouts and link with parents/guardians to ensure that all of our young people have a fantastic time as scouts.
Scouts take part in a set of adventurous activities which aim to build on the skills they’ve learnt in the previous sections while developing new skill sets by working together and taking on leadership responsibilities to shape their scouting experience. The scout programme ensures that our young people learn independence and builds their confidence in decision making.

Camping
The Scout Section goes camping at least once a term, often more. We do a wide range of activities on camps, from canoeing to campfires, high ropes to hiking, there isn’t a dull moment. We encourage all scouts to go camping as this is core to what it means to be a scout – it develops independence, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility you won’t get taught in school.
Activity Camps – At activity camps scouts can do tons of different activities at their own pace, as every activity is open all the time. Scouts usually group up by patrol or as friends, walk around and try things out! These are organised by a number of scout-owned activity centres and are attended by hundreds of scouts from across the country! We usually attend one activity camp each school year.
Patrol Camps – Patrol camps are a classic camp which let scouts develop themselves as a team. The leaders set a number of challenges, from cooking to navigation, and patrols are scored based on how well they do. Sometimes patrol camps are organised by West London District where our patrols compete against other London patrols!
Section Camps – At a section camp we all work together to run the weekend, with scouts and leaders doing cooking, pitching tents, and going to activities.
Christmas Sleepover – On a weekend before Christmas the group get together to do our annual sleepover. This is always a lovely time of year to watch a film, explore London, have a Christmas meal and play some games. In the past we have also written cards and wrapped presents for those in need.
Badges
Through the programme, scouts will work towards earning Activity Badges, Staged Badges and Challenge Awards. When all nine Challenge Awards are achieved, along with some other badges, the scout earns the Chief Scout Gold Award. Gaining the Award is a fantastic achievement for any scout.
