Explorers

Our Explorer unit is the Pimlico Guards ESU. We meet at our Scout Hall on Monday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

The Explorer Young Leader Unit begins at the age of 14 until the age of 18, with around 6 months of flexibility at the beginning of the section. Explorers meet together as a Unit with leaders guiding the sessions and supporting the young people. However, the main difference at Explorers is that the young people are now taking charge of their programme.

By taking charge of their section, Explorers will learn vital skills for life which range from how to plan a programme right through to budgeting and understanding how their plans all come together. Our young people will be supported by adult leaders to ensure they learn these skills.

International opportunities begin to come through much more in this section, providing the older section with activities and opportunities that are more adventurous. The Explorer section is a District provision which means they are not connected to a Group but work with other Explorer Units across the District. In Explorers there are a wide variety of Awards you can get stuck into. There are the Chief Scout Platinum and Diamond Awards, which can be built on to gain the Queen’s Scout Award (the highest Award in Scouting). You can also work towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award as well as your Explorer Belt.
