Scouting would not be possible with our adult volunteers. Volunteering with the scouts is incredibly rewarding and provides life skills you won’t get at work or university.

Why volunteer?
Volunteering with the Scouts is flexible, rewarding, and gives you experiences like nowhere else! We welcome volunteers from all walks of life – you do not need a Scouting background to be a volunteer.
As a volunteer you get to be part of a small team that makes a real difference to the lives of Young People, the group, and the wider community. You get to learn new skills and build confidence, leadership, planning and organisational skills that can help you at work and in your own life. Scouting experience is a real CV booster!
Being a volunteer is also great fun. Taking part in activities, teaching skills, and feeling that sense of achievement when your planning pays off. Our Scout leaders have travelled across Europe, served at state events, hiked up mountains, made delicious cakes on an open fire, and many more amazing achievements. What a great way to escape city life!
What do volunteers do?
As a uniformed Leader you help run our evening programme, our camps, activities, or anything else you want to be involved with! Our leaders learn skills from budgeting to firelighting. Our goal is to provide excellent experiences for our Young People, but we also get the opportunity to join hikes, do archery, travel abroad, and meet other experienced leaders.
As a member of our Trustee Board you help make sure the group is well managed and deliver Scouting safely, responsibly, and to a budget. This is an excellent place to develop financial and governance skills in a friendly environment, or to be involved in Scouting without a weekly commitment.
As a helper you can help occasionally with our evening programme – this is a particularly good role for parents/carers who want to learn more about Scouting and wish to help for an evening here and there.
